Treating Trauma in The Body

The human mind and body are deeply connected.

 

This connection is often evident in conditions like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, and Panic. These conditions reflect the body's response to the mind's battles. Somatic therapies, which include gentle methods such as massage, stretch and energetic work, offer a calm remedy to help individuals on their journey towards recovery.

These therapies focus on the physical body, bringing balance and peace when they are included in treatment plans for stress-based conditions. Massage and bodywork, executed with a trauma-informed approach, create a safe environment. In this safe space, individuals don't have to face their past traumas by processing verbally. Instead, the emphasis is on feeling ‘at home,’ in their body's again after a traumatic experience. Making massage and bodywork a powerful compliment to traditional talk therapies.
